Martin Luther King, Jr.

Timeless truths from Martin Luther King, Jr.

On repentance: “We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people.”

On character: “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

On courage: “We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.”

On hope: “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

Help Restore Hope and Dignity

Walking the Walk youth and adults from Reformation are participating in the MLK Day of Service event “Restoring Hope and Dignity.” During that day we will be remembering those in prison who are often forgotten and discarded from communities. As part of the day of service, event participants will be assembling basic hygiene items into care kits that will be distributed to those in prison. Please help us collect the following items for the hygiene kits.

  • White underwear (briefs)*
  • 1 bottle of lotion (maximum 3 oz.)
  • 1 bar of soap (minimum 6 oz.)
  • 1 tube of toothpaste (minimum 6 oz.)
  • 1 deodorant (minimum 2.25 oz.)
  • White crew socks*
  • White crewneck undershirt*

*Note – Clothing items are accepted in three sizes – men’s M, L, and XL.

Marilyn Berberich is coordinating our participation in this event. Donations can be dropped off at the Berberich home, or contact Marilyn to pick them up (610-353-5246 or mjberb@aol.com). Thanks in advance for your help!
