December OWLs

OWLs

Another rainy Monday brought another great turnout for the November OWLs meeting! Folks heard about how war also affects non-combatants in the moving poem shared by Tom Gibson commemorating Veteran’s Day. After lunch and conversation, the crowd enjoyed Sally Burkam’s exciting travel talk on the river cruise she took out west.

Guys and Gals, a singing group from the SchoolHouse Senior Center in Folsom will bring holiday music to the OWL’s December meeting. The musical program will be preceded by a devotion, then a hot meal and opportunity for fun and fellowship with old and new friends! The meeting is on December 11, 12:30 to 2:30 in Creighton Hall. All are welcome! Free-will donation.

It has become a tradition at our December meeting to gather small items for Fair Acres. Many of the residents at Fair Acres enjoy playing Bingo and choosing prizes from such donated small items—trinkets, jewelry, lotions, etc. If you wish to bring something, it should be both inexpensive and unwrapped. We’ll take them to Building 1 at Fair Acres immediately after the meeting and donate them in honor of Reformation member and OWL, Jeanette Brown. Sometimes we have even met Santa there!
