Ascension Day Service in Ardmore

Ascension Day Service in Ardmore

A LETTER FROM THE DEAN

Gordon Simmons is the Dean of Delaware Conferences of Churches and Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran in Wallingford.

Last year the Delaware Conference revived an Ascension Day Service that had been latent for a while and had a wonderful response.
WE’RE GOING TO DO IT AGAIN!

Thursday, May 29
St. Paul’s Church, Ardmore
415 Athens Ave
(at the corners of Athens Ave. & Wynnewood Rd)

Soup Supper 6:30 PM
Combined choir rehearsal 7:00 PM
Crafts for children 7:00 PM
Ascension Service 7:30 PM

Our preacher will be Dr. Karyn Wiseman, professor of homiletics (preaching) at the Lutheran Seminary.
She will also be conducting a seminar for the pastors in the afternoon from 2:00-5:00.
Andy Heller, director of music at St. Paul’s, will again be forming a joint choir. Music will soon be available for choirs to rehearse.

We have some extra activities planned for the children this year – a simple craft at 7:00 and then the children will all be a part of the procession.
Following the service everyone will process across Wynnewood Road to St. Paul’s cemetery where there will be a concluding song and a release of butterflies.
Children can help with the butterflies.
We have kits where the butterflies can be raised.
They will be available around May 1.
Please contact me if your church wants one for your children.

For the supper, each church is asked to bring two pots of soup and a desert.

The Ascension Day story is the story of Jesus spreading out over the whole world.
We’re going to celebrate it!
THIS IS GOING TO BE A BIG EVENT!
Come and join us!
