Be present at our table Lord, be here and everywhere adored. These mercies bless and grant that we, may strengthen for thy service be. – Bear Creek Camp Table Blessing
Dear Reformation,
One of my greatest privileges is being able to serve on the board of Bear Creek Camp. I grew up camping at Bear Creek, have served as a chaplain for their Women’s Retreat and summer camp programs, and now I get to give back in another way as a board member.
At the December board meeting, Bear Creek Camp voted to become a Reconciling in Christ organization. This is the same designation held by Reformation, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, and over 1,100 communities across the ELCA.
Bear Creek Camp’s welcome statement boldly states that all who travel down the red dirt road to camp will find a community of love and acceptance and more importantly, will “depart equipped to energize their communities with that same expansive spirit of inclusion.” (Head here to read the whole welcome statement and learn about camp’s intentional inclusive practices.)
At Reformation we remain strong supporters of Bear Creek Camp and celebrate this wonderful moment in the life of our camp. We invite you to join us for our annual Camp Sunday, March 9, as we welcome BCC staff and collect a special offering for their campership fund.
As a reminder, summer camp registration is now open! (Visit bearcreekcamp.org to learn more and register.) I will be serving as a chaplain during Session 5 this summer and I would love to see you at camp!
