Community action is just that – taking action in our local community.
Providing meals, soups, and stews for distribution to the homebound through Aid for Friends. If you would like to help with this outreach program, trays and containers (with instructions) are always available in the Narthex for you to fill at home, freeze, and bring to the church freezer.
Christmas – St. Nicholas Project
Each Advent, providing new clothing, toys, blankets and many other items for distribution to a variety of charities. Take a tag with a gift of your choice, and bring in the purchased gift on St. Nicholas Day.
Volunteering once a month to serve food and conduct worship services for local families in Chester. Meet at the church and carpool with other volunteers. Also, providing non-perishable canned and packaged food for donation to City Team. Donations can be left in the Narthex near the coat rack.
Holiday Food Baskets
Providing meals at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, through organizations that serve local families in need. Help by purchasing nonperishable food to fill a grocery bag or by donating money to help purchase the holiday meat and other perishable items. Volunteers are always welcome to help with the food distribution as well.
Helping repair and revitalize decaying neighborhoods in our community though this inter-faith ministry. No skills are required, but special skills are put to good use. Work days are scheduled several times a year. Family-oriented and for all ages, members have painted, swept, built, cleaned, replaced windows, pulled weeds and planted, and many other jobs, large and small. Look for notices in the weekly Bulletin and sign-up sheets in the Narthex.
Various collections throughout the year
As needs arise, collecting for various organizations. We have collected school supplies for children in need, duffle bags and suitcases for children in foster care, vitamins for children in Haiti, diapers and baby formula for families in transitional housing, and much more. Look for notices in the weekly Bulletin and collection boxes in the Narthex.
