Gifts of Warmth for local ELCA Homeless Church
Way Better than Black Friday…shop your closet!
Reduce clutter, and make room for new Christmas gifts. Challenge yourself to find five warm things to share. Bring your gently used or new warm items to church throughout January and we will donate to hang on the share rack at Broad and Arch Streets in Philadelphia of the Welcome Church, a church without walls. Look for a donation bin in the Narthex.
Reverend Violet Little, 61, of Philadelphia, Pa., started the Welcome Church in 2009. It is a refuge for the homeless in the City of Brotherly Love that’s a “congregation in development” of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Little has become the voice of the homeless among ELCA’s 10,000+ congregations. Pastor Violet recently won a Purpose Prize, awarded to people over 60 who are using their “second act” to make the world a better place, for her work with the homeless.
