Some history of the concert and the Leibig Fund:
The David Leibig Memorial Fund was started in 1994 when the concept of awarding yearly grants in honor of David was approved by Church Council. David Leibig was the organist and choir director at Reformation for 29 years (and a principal and educator at RTMSD.) At the time of his death in 1992 memorial gifts totaling $3,760.00 formed the seed money for the Fund.
After approval by Church Council, the Leibig Fund Committee was formed and additional fund raising efforts increased the Fund to $12,000.00 in 1995. The first grants were given at the Leibig Concert in 1996.
The Leibig Fund Committee receives applications each year for the grant(s) and after screening and interviews the recipients are selected. The successful applicant performs at the Leibig Concert which is held at Reformation the first Sunday of May. The concerts have been very well received and each year brings a new talent to Reformation.
Through 2014 the Leibig Memorial Fund has given grants totaling in excess of $30,000.00. The Leibig Concert has been a special event that has introduced us to many talented musicians and opened the doors of Reformation to our community for the free concert and refreshments.
