January OWLs News

The OWLs ended the calendar year in a festive way!  We celebrated the 100th birthday of our oldest member, Madaline Heim, with a card signed by all, plus a special cake. Then we enjoyed the Christmas songs of an energetic Senior Center chorus, the “Guys and Gals.”  They were pleased to have been invited to shared lunch with us!

Special thanks to Ron Brzowski, who set up the extra tables and chairs to accommodate chorus members, and also to Keith Bowman, who came to help put them away.

Following the meeting, Phyllis Brady, Joanne Riess, and Ernie and Edna Bogert took dozens and dozens of donated trinkets and toiletries to Fair Acres.  They will be given to residents as Bingo prizes.  The OWLs have done this in recent years in honor of RLC member, Jeanette Brown, who, although she can no longer get to OWLs meetings, never fails to be warmly welcoming and gracious to all who visit!

— UPDATE: DUE TO PREDICTED BAD WEATHER, THE JANUARY OWLS MEETING IS CANCELLED —

On Monday, January 8, we’ll begin the new year with a program by Kimberly Bove, who will provide information about senior living residence, Plush Mills, located in Wallingford.  Kimberly promises to provide desserts following our lunch.  Pizza, anyone?  As always, meetings begin at 12:30 and end by 2:30. A free-will offering covers expenses. Any RLC member or friend is welcome to attend. No reservation needed!
