But ask the animals, and they will teach you; the birds of the air, and they will tell you; ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being. – Job 12:7-10

When Reformation began its most recent renovation project, decisions were intentionally made to build in a way that would be environmentally responsible and invest in this stewardship opportunity.

In 2010, as a result of these decisions for energy efficiency, Reformation earned an Energy Star designation. We are the first and only faith community in the state of Pennsylvania to achieve that designation. (You can check out our Energy Star plaque right inside the main doors!) You can learn more about Energy Star here.

On September 27, Reformation was privileged to host a stop on the Energy Star Pennsylvania Stewardship Tour. This gathering of religious leaders, led by representatives of Energy Star, was an opportunity to resource other faith communities to make energy efficient decisions for their buildings. Reformation was chosen for this event as a result of our Energy Star designation and our ability to share our commitment to these principles. We were grateful to welcome interfaith partners and community leaders to be a part of this time of learning and resource sharing and we rejoice in the witness that we as a congregation were able to offer.

This is just one way that Reformation continues to be committed to the care and concern of our earth and the resources we have been entrusted by God. What a great way to celebrate the abundance of God’s blessings!

Blessings!
