I Spy With My Little Eye…some changes in the Sanctuary!

Have you noticed anything different in the sanctuary?

In recent weeks, the bowl from the baptismal font was returned after several months of absence! This was due to much-needed refinishing of the bowl, which was in deteriorating condition from many years of use. Refinishing was provided in loving memory of Tom and Margie Gibson, whose memory is included on a plaque on the underside of the bowl. We are excited to use our font for  baptisms for many more years to come! Many thanks to the Gibson family for this gift.

I Spy doesn’t stop there! The processional cross used in worship was also recently replaced with a brand new cross! The purpose of this upgrade was twofold. While the new cross aesthetically echoes the design of the large sanctuary cross on the front wall, it is also “lightweight” – really meaning the weight is distributed so it is nowhere near as top-heavy as our old one. This will help us to better welcome and appreciate our younger students in 3rd or 4th grade who want to be an acolyte or crucifer during worship but struggle with the old processional cross. But don’t worry – the old cross will still make appearances from time to time as we add it to our worship supplies outside in the pavilion!

Be sure to stop by and admire these changes to our worship space next time you’re at church!

In Peace,

Pastor Eileen (she/her)
