God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change … – Psalm 46:1-2a

Dear Reformation,

Autumn is my favorite season of the year (meteorologically speaking!). For me there is nothing more delightful than a cool, crisp fall day with the colors of the trees changing around me. It is this time of the year that always gives me wonder at creation and the way it shows the beauty of change.

We are entering a time of change in our congregation just as our world is entering this time of change. We are preparing to say goodbye and thank you to Deacon Beth for her wonderful ministry among us at Reformation. We know that we celebrate with her and this new chapter for her and Bob as they enter retirement and that we are saddened at this loss of the gift of her work in this community.

Through this time, we are reminded of God’s enduring presence and promise for our future as a community of faith. As my favorite Psalm reminds us “God is our refuge and strength” through any changes or challenges that come to us. (Or, as we will sing later this month, the hymn inspired by this Psalm reminds us: “A mighty fortress is our God!”)

During this time, we continue to be reminded of the amazing things God does with change and we celebrate that promise that God’s love for us never changes. Through these days of fall may we all be reminded of that gift as we look towards the future and where God is calling us.

Blessings,
Pastor Alina
