ROSE TREE Road CLEAN UP DAY – May 18th

ROSE TREE Road CLEAN UP DAY – May 18th

Why do we agree to do the road clean up? When we study scripture we discover a guide line for our decision making.

In Genesis we find two words which describe our relationship and care for this world. In Gen 1:21,28, the author uses the Hebrew word “radah” . This word is translated to mean rule and dominion over. It gives us authority over the animals, the plants and the inhabitants of the waters, and use of creation. The question we ask is what type of
authority? The author also tells us that we are created in the image of God and that like God, we are to care for this world as God would. We are to care for it so that all created things may come to the fullness that they were created to be.

The author of Gen 2:15 uses the word “ahad” which means to serve. One of the calls God has for us is to serve this world, cultivate it so that all may flourish.

Road clean up two times a year seems so little compared with the needs of this world, yet this is our part of creation for we as a congregation have agreed to provide care. Mark May 18 on your calendar to answer God’s call to be stewards of this earth.
