One World Concert with Sieglinde Schneider

A classical music program focused on healing and equality.
Featuring works of Händel, Uhland and Rilke around some works of Josefine Winter.

Sieglinde Schneider is committed to peace and international understanding. She sang parts of her first peace program in 2007 in the German Bundestag on the occasion of the “national day of mourning”, which was broadcast worldwide on German ARD Television. With Josefine von Winter’s compositions, Sieglinde Schneider would like to appeal to human respect and dignity.

This program is dedicated to Josefine Winter (1873-1943), a Jewish composer and painter that lived in Vienna at the time of Gustav Klimt, Gustav Mahler, and Sigmund
Freud. She set poets of her time to music, as well as CF Meyer, Uhland and her husband’s works. She was stopped in her work: as a Jew “she wasn’t
allowed”, as a woman “she wasn’t allowed”, so she never was able to achieve her full potential. Being Jewish, she was finally deported and murdered in the Theresienstadt Ghetto in 1943.
