Nursery Classes

– 2 Day Class (for 3 ½ – 4 year olds) meets Tuesday and Thursday
– 3 Day Class (for 3 ½ – 4 year olds) meets Monday, Wednesday, & Friday

The 2 or 3 Day Class will meet  from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.  Parents have an option of choosing a 2 or 3 Day Nursery Class. Students must be 4 years old by January 1st. The goal of the Nursery Classes is to work on all areas of development:  social, cognitive, emotional, and physical through play, crafts, games, and movement.  The curriculum focus is to prepare the children for the following year of Pre-K.  Many of the skills taught in this class are an introduction to the skills needed for the following year.  The children will be exposed to alphabet recognition skills, number skills, pencil skills and cutting skills.  The children will also be encouraged to become independent with activities such as:  washing their hands, packing up their backpacks, and putting on their own jackets.  Parent Conferences will take place in March.  It is truly amazing to witness the amount of growth that takes place during the school year at this age.

The class schedule begins with free play.  Children are encouraged to interact with one another and explore different areas in the classroom.   There are a variety of activities to choose from during free play:  play dough, coloring, puzzles, train table, kitchen area, easel painting, etc. Free play is followed by circle time activities which include: the pledge of allegiance, calendar activities, & story time.  After story time, the children go to their seats for craft time.  Craft time is followed by a bathroom break & snack time.  After snack, the children will enjoy music, show & tell, and outdoor playtime when the weather permits.

Pre-K Classes (4 & 5 year olds)

– 3 Day Class (for  4-5  year olds) meets Monday, Wednesday, & Friday
– 5 Day Class (for 4 -5  year olds) meets every day of the week

The 3 or 5 Day Pre-K Classes meet from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.  Parents have an option of choosing a 3 Day or 5 Day Pre-K class.  There are 2 separate classrooms: one classroom offers the 3 day class and the other classroom offers the 5 Day class.  Both programs are basically the same except for the number of days.  The 5 Day program offers enrichment activities on Tuesday and Thursday.

Children must be 4 years of age by September 1st.  In addition, all children must be going into kindergarten the following year in order to be eligible for this program.  The main focus of the curriculum is to prepare the children for kindergarten.  The children will develop alphabet recognition/ beginning sound skills, number recognition/counting skills, name writing skills, and language/listening skills.  Children are encouraged to do things for themselves with minimal teacher assistance.  Our teachers will keep you updated on your child’s progress in school.  Parents are encouraged to ask questions and to speak to their child’s teacher regarding concerns about your child’s readiness.  Parent conferences will take place in February.  Our goal is to prepare each child as best as we can for their kindergarten year.

The class schedule begins with free play.  Children are encouraged to interact with one another and explore different areas in the classroom.   There are a variety of activities to choose from during free play:  play dough, coloring, puzzles, kitchen area, easel painting, etc.  Morning Activities consist of circle time activities which include: the pledge of allegiance, calendar activities, and story time.  Each class will have craft time, a bathroom break & snack time.  Additionally, the children will also enjoy music, show & tell, and outdoor playtime when the weather permits.
